Men's Pelvic Health
If you’re dealing with pelvic floor issues and think you’ve tried everything, we’re here to help.
Leaking when you laugh. Pelvic pain that won't quit. Intimacy that feels off. These aren't just "part of getting older," and they're more common in men than most people realize. At Anchor Pelvic Physical Therapy, we create a safe, judgment-free space where men can finally get the answers and relief they've been looking for.
We specialize in pelvic floor physical therapy for men, and we're here to help you get back to feeling like yourself.
What Is the Pelvic Floor and Why Does It Matter for Men?
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles at the base of your pelvis that support your bladder and bowel, and directly influence sexual function.
Pelvic floor dysfunction has traditionally been associated with women, but men have a pelvic floor too, and dysfunction is more common than people realize. We understand that seeking help may feel embarrassing or intimidating, and we want you to know that your comfort, dignity, and privacy will always be our top priorities.
Diagnoses & Symptoms We Treat
-
Whether your pelvic floor muscles are overactive (too tight) or underactive (too weak), the result can be pain, dysfunction, and frustration. Signs include pelvic pressure or heaviness, difficulty with urination, or a constant feeling of tension in your hips or lower back. We'll assess exactly what's going on and build a plan that works for your body.
-
Urinary leakage, urgency, frequency, incomplete emptying, constipation, or difficulty controlling bowel movements, none of these are things you just have to accept. They're signs that your pelvic floor needs support, and physical therapy can make a real, lasting difference.
-
Ongoing pain in the pelvis, perineum, tailbone, hips, or lower abdomen can be exhausting and isolating. Many men with chronic pelvic pain have seen multiple providers without finding answers. We take a thorough, whole-body approach to identify the root cause and help you find relief.
-
Pelvic floor muscle tension or weakness can play a significant role in erectile dysfunction, a connection that's often overlooked. Pelvic floor physical therapy isn't a replacement for your physician, but it can be a powerful part of your care team. We'll address the muscular and movement components that may be contributing to what you're experiencing.
-
After prostate surgery, urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction are common but they don't have to be permanent. Pelvic floor PT is one of the most effective tools for recovery after a prostatectomy. We'll work with you from preparation through rehabilitation to help you regain control and confidence as quickly as possible.
-
Whether you're heading into prostate surgery or another pelvic procedure, preparing your body beforehand can dramatically improve your recovery. We offer prehab programs to strengthen and train your pelvic floor before surgery, and targeted rehab to rebuild function afterward.
-
A strong, well-coordinated pelvic floor is foundational to athletic performance. From core stability and power transfer to managing leakage and hemorrhoids during high-intensity training, we help active men optimize how their bodies move and perform without limitation.
What Causes Your Symptoms
Your pelvic floor muscles directly affect your bladder and bowel by providing structural support, pressure management, and sphincter control. Most men don't think much about these muscles until something goes wrong. When these muscles are too tight, too weak, or not coordinating the way they should, both systems can be affected. The result is symptoms that are unpredictable, embarrassing, and exhausting. But they are not inevitable, and they are absolutely treatable.
What to Expect
We know walking through the door for pelvic floor PT can feel like a big step. Here's what you can count on:

Respect and zero judgment. These topics can feel vulnerable to bring up. We get it. You'll be met with professionalism and genuine care every step of the way.
Frequently Asked Questions About Men’s Pelvic Health
-
Men absolutely have a pelvic floor. It's a group of muscles at the base of your pelvis that supports your bladder, bowel, and sexual function. When these muscles aren't working properly, it can affect all three, and that's exactly what we're here to help with.
-
We completely understand why it might feel that way, pelvic floor PT has historically been associated with women. But men deal with pelvic floor dysfunction just as much as women do, it just gets talked about a lot less. You will never feel out of place or judged here. We treat men regularly and we take your symptoms just as seriously as anyone else's.
-
No referral is needed. You can reach out and book directly with us at any time.
-
Your first visit is a full hour. We'll spend that time getting to know your history, your symptoms, and your goals. Depending on what you're dealing with, an internal assessment may be recommended, but it is always optional, always explained thoroughly beforehand, and completely your choice. Nothing happens without your full understanding and consent.
-
It can, especially when muscle tension or weakness is a contributing factor, which is more common than most people realize. Pelvic PT isn't a replacement for working with your physician, but it can be a powerful and often overlooked part of your care. We'll be upfront with you about what we can address and how we can work alongside your existing treatment.
-
The sooner the better. Ideally, we'd love to see you before surgery to prepare your pelvic floor, but if that didn't happen, starting PT as soon as you're cleared postoperatively gives you the best chance at a faster and more complete recovery. Don't wait until symptoms become a bigger problem.
-
It doesn't mean it can't work for you. It may mean the approach wasn't the right fit or the root cause wasn't fully identified. We take the time to understand what you've already tried and build a plan that actually addresses what's driving your symptoms. We're not going to hand you a generic exercise program and send you on your way.
You Don’t Have to Wait Any Longer.
Whether you're just starting to notice symptoms or you've been dealing with this for years, treatment is available and relief is possible.
