Pelvic Pain Treatment
If you've been told the pain is in your head, we're here to offer you real solutions.
Every day in our office, we treat people who have been dismissed by the medical system and told their pain was in their head or that all their tests were normal, and the providers didn’t know what else to do.
Struggling with pelvic pain or pain with intimacy can feel incredibly lonely. For many women, it becomes the thing they quietly carry every single day, while pretending everything is fine.
When you're in pain, you start to shrink your world. You avoid certain activities. You feel anxious about intimacy. You wonder if what you're experiencing is "normal," and you leave appointment after appointment feeling dismissed, unheard, and like no one truly understands what you're going through.
We do. And we want you to know you don't have to keep carrying this alone. We are here to walk this journey with you and we will not give up until we help you find the answers you deserve.
Your symptoms are real.
It’s not in your head, and we believe every detail you share with us.
Your story, fears, frustrations, and goals matter. From the moment you walk through our doors, our team is here to listen without judgment, validate what you've been experiencing, and do everything we can to help you feel like yourself again.
Your symptoms are treatable, life can feel different, and we are here to help.
Diagnoses & Symptoms We Treat
-
Persistent pain in the pelvis, abdomen, or perineum whether it's been there for months or years, it is never something you should have to just manage. We dig into the root cause and build a treatment plan around what your body actually needs.
-
Pain during or after sex is one of the most common and most under-treated pelvic floor conditions. It can affect your relationships, your sense of self, and your mental health in profound ways. We approach this with the sensitivity and trauma informed care it deserves and help you work toward intimacy that feels safe and comfortable again.
-
Chronic vulvar pain, burning, or irritation without a clear cause can be incredibly frustrating and isolating. We work to address the muscular, neurological, and movement components contributing to your symptoms and help you find real, lasting relief.
-
If you're dealing with ongoing bladder pressure, pelvic pain, and urinary urgency without infection, your pelvic floor is likely involved. We take a whole-body approach to managing IC symptoms and help calm the cycle of pain and tension that keeps them going.
-
While pelvic floor therapy doesn't treat endometriosis directly, it plays a powerful role in managing the pain, myofascial restriction and muscle guarding, and dysfunction that come with it. We work alongside your care team to help you move better, hurt less, and feel more in control of your body.
-
Pain, scar tissue, and movement changes after pelvic or abdominal surgeries, including hysterectomy, laparoscopies, prolapse repair, or cesarean delivery, can linger long after you're supposed to be "recovered." We help you address what surgery left behind and rebuild strength, mobility, and comfort.
-
Whether from a fall, childbirth, or prolonged sitting — can make everyday life miserable. Pelvic floor PT is one of the most effective and overlooked treatments for coccydynia, and we can help you finally get relief.
Pelvic pain is rarely straightforward, but fully treatable.
Pelvic pain can show up as pressure, burning, aching, or sharp pain. It can affect your bladder, bowels, sexual function, and daily life. The origins of pelvic pain are often multifactorial, but in most cases, the pelvic floor muscles are either too tight and overprotective or are not coordinating properly in response to pain signals your body has been sending for a long time.
Sessions at Anchor Pelvic Therapy are always an hour-long to give your therapist adequate time to fully assess your specific presentation and identify the root cause of your symptoms. We understand that pelvic pain can be isolating and overwhelming, and we’re here to guide you, support you, and provide the care that will actually help you get better.
What to Expect
We know that talking about pelvic pain — especially pain with intimacy — takes courage. Here's what you'll always find at Anchor Pelvic:
One-on-one, private care. Every session is just you and your therapist, in a calm and confidential space.
A full hour with your provider. We don't rush. We listen. We make sure you feel understood before we ever talk about a plan.
A personalized treatment approach. Your pain has a story. Your treatment plan will too. It is built entirely around you, your body, and your goals.
A team that believes you. Too many women have been dismissed, told it's in their head, or handed a pamphlet and sent home. That's not what we do here. Your pain is real, and you deserve real care.
A trauma-informed approach to your care. We understand that for many people, pelvic pain is deeply connected to past experiences, and your comfort and safety come first, always. Every step of your care is explained before it happens, every boundary is respected without question, and you are always in control.
Frequently Asked Questions about Pelvic Pain Treatment
-
Pelvic floor involvement can show up in a lot of ways, including pain in the pelvis, hips, back, tailbone, or lower abdomen, bladder and bowel dysfunction, discomfort with sitting or sex, or pain that has never had a clear diagnosis. If you've been dealing with persistent pain in any of these areas and haven't found answers, there's a good chance your pelvic floor is part of the picture. The best way to know for sure is to come in for an evaluation.

No referral is needed. You can reach out and book directly with us at any time.

Your first visit is a full hour. We'll spend time getting to know your history, your symptoms, and your goals before anything else. An internal assessment may be recommended depending on your symptoms, but it is always optional, always explained fully beforehand, and entirely your choice. Nothing happens without your consent. After the evaluation your therapist will take time to sit with you, explain what they found and create a plan that is specifically for you.
-
Yes, and you are not alone in that experience. Many of our pelvic pain patients have seen several providers before finding us. We take a thorough, whole-body approach and don't give up until we understand what's driving your symptoms. We are here to walk the journey with you.
-
Every person is different, and pelvic pain can be complex. Some women notice meaningful improvement within just a few sessions. Others with longer standing or more layered pain take more time. What we can promise is that we'll be honest with you about what to expect and we'll be with you every step of the way.
-
We hear this more than you might think, and it doesn't mean pelvic floor therapy can't work for you. It may mean the approach wasn't the right fit, the root cause wasn't fully identified, or something was missed along the way. We take the time to understand what you've already tried and why it may not have gotten you where you needed to go. Our evaluation is thorough, our approach is individualized, and we're not going to hand you a generic exercise program and call it a day. If pelvic floor physical therapy is the right path for you, we'll make sure it actually works this time. We also build on our incredible network of referral partners to get you to the best medical and support team for your specific symptoms. We can’t do it all and it is sometimes the combination of the right providers including pelvic floor therapy that leads to lasting results.
Hope Is Not Out of Reach.
No matter how long you've been living with pelvic pain, or how many providers have let you down, healing is possible. You don't have to keep carrying this alone.
