Postpartum Pelvic Therapy
You Just Did Something Amazing. Now Let's Take Care of You.
You grew and delivered a human being. Giving birth is like an olympic event, the body goes through so much. Whether your birth went exactly as planned or nothing like you expected — your body has been through something significant, and it deserves real care and real attention.
But so often, postpartum women are handed a six-week clearance, told everything looks fine, and sent back into their lives with no guidance on how to actually recover. You're expected to bounce back — to feel like yourself again — without anyone ever really helping you get there.
We think that's a problem. And we're here to do something about it.
At Anchor Pelvic Physical Therapy, postpartum care is not an afterthought. It's one of the most important things we do and we're here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
Cleared Doesn’t Mean Recovered.
Many women get cleared at their six-week checkup despite dealing with significant pelvic floor symptoms that appeared after giving birth. Leaking with laughing or sneezing. Core muscles that don't feel connected. A pelvis that aches. Sex that hurts. A body that just doesn't feel like yours anymore.
None of that is just "normal postpartum life." It's your body asking for support.
At Anchor Pelvic Therapy, we meet you where you are. Whether you just recently delivered or you’re two years postpartum and still dealing with symptoms nobody took seriously, we help you rebuild from the inside out, address the root cause of what you're feeling, and get back to the life you had before.
You showed up for your baby. Let us show up for you.
Diagnoses & Symptoms We Treat
-
Leaking after having a baby is incredibly common but it is not your new normal. Whether you're leaking with a sneeze, a jump, or a laugh, or you can't make it to the bathroom in time, pelvic floor PT can help you get full control back. You shouldn't have to plan your workouts, your outings, or your life around your bladder.
-
That separation in your abdominal muscles that happened during pregnancy doesn't always resolve on its own, and doing the wrong exercises too soon can make things worse. We assess your diastasis, help you understand what it means for your body, and guide you through a progressive plan to rebuild core strength the right way.
-
A C-section is major abdominal surgery — and the scar tissue it leaves behind can affect far more than just the incision site. Tightness, numbness, pulling, and pain can show up months or even years later. We work directly with C-section scars to restore mobility, reduce sensitivity, and help your body move and feel the way it should.
-
Prolapse, the feeling of heaviness, pressure, or bulging in the vaginal area, affects a significant number of postpartum women and often goes unaddressed. Pelvic floor PT is one of the most effective first-line treatments for prolapse, helping you manage symptoms, restore function, and feel confident in your body again.
-
Returning to intimacy after having a baby can be painful, uncomfortable, or emotionally complicated, and that's more common than anyone talks about. Whether pain is related to tearing, scar tissue, hormonal changes, or pelvic floor tension, we help you work through it with care and zero judgment.
-
Getting back to running, lifting, CrossFit, or whatever you love shouldn't feel like a guessing game. We guide you through a safe and progressive return to exercise making sure your pelvic floor and core are truly ready before you ramp back up, so you don't end up sidelined by leaking, prolapse symptoms, or injury down the road.
-
Sometimes birth doesn't go the way you hoped. And the physical and emotional weight of that can linger long after you've come home. We hold space for all of it, because healing postpartum isn't just physical. You'll never be rushed, minimized, or made to feel like your experience doesn't matter here.
Postpartum Care Should Not Be an Afterthought.
Giving birth causes a significant amount of trauma to your pelvic floor, core, and the connective tissues of your pelvis, regardless of how you delivered. Yes, childbirth is a natural human experience, but for nearly every woman, full healing and recovery requires more than just time and rest. Pelvic floor therapy bridges that gap.
At Anchor Pelvic Therapy, postpartum care is not an afterthought. Treatment is specifically designed to promote tissue healing, restore movement, help you safely regain strength, and help you reconnect with your body. Bring your baby, your partner, your mom, your pump or whatever you need to feel comfortable. We’re here for all of it.
What to Expect
One-on-one, hour-long sessions. From your first visit, you'll have our full attention — no rushing, no sharing your provider, no cookie-cutter care.
A thorough assessment. We don't just treat symptoms, we look at the full picture of what your body has been through and what it needs to fully recover.
A plan built around your life. Newborn at home, older kids running around, trying to get back to work, we get it. Your plan will fit your real life, not an idealized version of it.
A team in your corner. Postpartum can feel isolating. We want you to feel like you have people who are genuinely rooting for you because you do.
Frequently Asked Questions About Postpartum PT
-
We recommend coming in as early as two weeks postpartum for an initial evaluation, even before you've been cleared by your OB or midwife. Early assessment allows us to identify what's going on, start gentle treatment where appropriate, and make sure you're not doing anything in the meantime that could slow your recovery. You don't have to wait until your six week appointment to get support and research shows the earlier you can make it in the better. P.S. bring your baby, your partner, your mom, your pump or whatever you need to feel comfortable. We’re here for all of it.

A six week clearance means your incision or tear has healed and there are no immediate medical concerns. It does not mean your pelvic floor, core, and connective tissue have fully recovered. Many women are cleared at six weeks and still dealing with leaking, prolapse symptoms, pain with sex, or a core that doesn't feel right. And even if you feel completely fine, jumping back into exercise, lifting, or high impact activity before your body is truly ready can create problems down the road that are much harder to address later. Getting assessed early, whether you have symptoms or not, is one of the best investments you can make in your long term health and recovery.
-
Absolutely. A C-section is major abdominal surgery and it affects your core, your pelvic floor, and the surrounding tissue in significant ways. Scar tissue, core dysfunction, and pelvic floor issues are just as common after a cesarean as after a vaginal delivery. Remember that the pelvic floor worked really hard for nine months to support your growing baby. Even with a c-section it still needs support. We work with C-section mamas regularly and have a lot to offer your recovery.
-
It depends on what you're dealing with and how long it's been going on. Most women notice meaningful improvement within just a few sessions. What we can promise is that we'll be honest with you about what to expect and we'll be with you every step of the way.
-
It is never too late. We see women who are months, years, or even decades postpartum and still achieving real, lasting improvement. Your body has an incredible ability to heal and respond to the right treatment, no matter how much time has passed.
-
Yes, and this is one of our favorite things to do. We're a fitness forward, functional based clinic that will assess whether your pelvic floor and core are truly ready for the activity you want to return to and guide you through a progressive plan that gets you back to what you love without leaking, pain, or prolapse symptoms getting in the way.
-
Yes, and we want you to know that you are so welcome here. We understand that birth doesn't always go the way we hope, and that the physical and emotional weight of that experience can linger. We hold space for all of it. You will never be rushed, dismissed, or made to feel like your experience doesn't matter. Healing happens at your pace here.
-
It doesn't mean it can't work for you. It may mean the approach wasn't the right fit, something was missed, or the root cause wasn't fully identified. We take the time to understand your full history and what you've already tried so we can build a plan that actually gets you where you need to go.
Your Recovery Matters Too.
You've spent months pouring everything into growing your baby. Now it's your turn. Whether you're six weeks postpartum or six years, it is never too late to address your symptoms and get your body the support it needs.
